Property valuationMoordown is a settled northern suburb on Wimborne Road, part of Bournemouth since 1901, with Victorian cottages, interwar semis and a large number of bungalows. It lets mainly to families and longer-term tenants, and sells to first-time buyers, families and downsizers who want a bungalow close to shops and buses.
Moordown is the settled end of Wimborne Road: semis with drives, Victorian cottages, a great many bungalows and the shops of Grand Parade, a bus ride north of the town centre. It has been part of Bournemouth since 1901 and still feels like a place people stay in. For a landlord that means longer tenancies; for a vendor, a steady market of families and downsizers.
Renting in Moordown
Rented homes here are mostly family houses: three-bedroom semis on the Mayfield Park estate and the interwar side roads, cottages near Wimborne Road, and a smaller number of flats above the shops. Tenants are families, hospital staff using the Castle Lane route, and people working around the airport. Students live here too, but far fewer than in Winton. Buying and selling in Moordown
Moordown is a market for first-time buyers, who take the cottages and smaller semis, for families moving up to a larger semi with a garden, and for downsizers who want a bungalow near buses and shops. Sell your property in Moordown explains how we market each, and property valuation in Moordown what we look at.
Letting a property in Moordown
A family house in Moordown is a straightforward let compared with a converted flat or a student house: usually a freehold, with a garden and a drive, let to one household. The obligations are the standard ones, gas and electrical safety, alarms, the EPC, deposit protection and the Renters' Rights Act, set out in our landlord legal checklist. Property management in Moordown covers day-to-day running, and winter lets in Moordown how a furnished house earns through the colder months.

Outstanding from start to finish
The apartment exceeded our expectations with its modern design and thoughtful touches throughout. Walking distance to both the seafront and shopping areas made it incredibly convenient. Clear instructions, responsive host. Would absolutely stay here again on our next visit to Bournemouth.
Modern, clean and superbly located
Lovely apartment in very close proximity to Bournemouth town centre and beach. Modern, very clean and well equipped. Onsite parking was a big plus, making it easy to explore the area. The host was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay.
Second stay, and we'll be back
Great apartment at a perfect location. Jack and the team were so easy to deal with. This is our second time at this apartment block and we'll definitely be returning. Clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Estate agents in Moordown: questions
What kind of homes are in Moordown?
A mix of Victorian cottages near Wimborne Road, the Mayfield Park estate from around 1911, interwar semis and many bungalows, with flats above the Grand Parade shops. Compared with Winton to the south, there are more drives and gardens and fewer shared houses.
Is Moordown good for families renting?
Yes. Semis with gardens, primary schools, Redhill Park and Moordown Recreation Ground, shops on Wimborne Road and buses to the centre make it one of the more practical family suburbs in north Bournemouth. Families tend to stay for several years once settled.
How do I get from Moordown to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital?
By car along Castle Lane West and Castle Lane East, avoiding the town centre, or by bus on routes 14, 15 or 20. That direct route is one reason hospital staff rent in Moordown. Check current timetables before relying on a route.
Do bungalows in Moordown sell well?
They draw steady interest from downsizers and older buyers, because few Bournemouth suburbs have so many bungalows close to shops, buses and the hospital. Condition, the bathroom and whether the loft has been converted make the biggest difference to price.
Which council covers Moordown?
BCP Council. It handles council tax, HMO licensing, planning and parking. At the time of writing the Article 4 Direction on new shared houses applies in Moordown as across Bournemouth.
