Long term lets in Highcliffe are furnished homes taken for 28 nights or more, with bills included in one monthly figure and no tenancy. The Flexiestays group's apartments are in central Bournemouth; in Highcliffe the homes are owners' bungalows and houses listed on the Flexiestays platform. Most guests here are not tourists: they are families near an older relative, remote workers and people moving to the coast. The service as a whole is on our long term lets page.
Staying in Highcliffe for weeks or months
A long stay gives you a furnished home with the kitchen, linen and bills sorted, near the person or the work you came for. The shops on Lincoln Road and Lymington Road are a walk from most homes, the clifftop and Highcliffe Castle grounds are close, and Hinton Admiral station has trains to Bournemouth, Southampton and London Waterloo. The Royal Bournemouth Hospital is a drive west along the A35, and Christchurch Hospital is closer still.
When nothing in the village is free for your dates, the group's apartments in Bournemouth are a drive away, and other homes in the town are on long term lets in Christchurch. The village is described on our Highcliffe area page.
Who stays
- Families of older residents, often at short notice, staying while a parent recovers, is assessed for care or moves house. Stays rarely have a firm end date at the start.
- Remote workers, who want a quiet season by the sea and the station for occasional trips to London.
- People relocating, who have sold elsewhere and rent while they buy.
- Contractors, working at the airport at Hurn or on building projects nearby.
Letting your Highcliffe home this way
A bungalow with level access, a walk-in shower and parking is the most requested long-stay home in Highcliffe, because so many guests are here for an older relative or are older themselves. A house with a desk and fast broadband suits remote workers. We visit, set a monthly rate, photograph the home and list it. Each guest is checked, inventories are taken at both ends, and the stay ends on an agreed date.
Check the lease first if the home is a flat: a retirement lease will usually rule out these guests. Tell your lender and insurer. If council tax is in the monthly figure, at the time of writing BCP Council charges a 100% premium on furnished homes that are nobody's main residence.
The difference from a tenancy
A guest whose main home is elsewhere, or a company booking for an employee, is outside the assured tenancy rules. Someone who makes the house their only home may be a tenant whatever the booking says, and since 1 May 2026 a tenancy runs with no fixed end. Our guide to corporate lets and relocation covers the company side.

Highcliffe is a clifftop village on the Hampshire border, part of Christchurch and the BCP Council area. Bungalows and detached houses make up most of the stock, with clifftop flats and retirement blocks, and the market is led by retirees, downsizers and families who want the beach, the New Forest and a station on the Waterloo line.
The strongest long-stay demand in Highcliffe comes from the village's own residents. Highcliffe has many older people, and when one goes into hospital, needs care at home or is moving into a home, a son or daughter needs somewhere nearby for weeks with no fixed end. A bungalow with parking a few minutes from the parent is what they look for.
Around them are other steady guests. Remote workers come for a season by the sea and use Hinton Admiral station for trips to London. Retirees selling elsewhere rent before buying a bungalow or clifftop flat. Contractors working at Hurn or on local building projects want a house with a drive.
One restriction matters more here than anywhere: retirement flats, common on the cliff, usually cannot take these guests at all, because their leases limit occupation by age.
Who rents and buys in Highcliffe
- Retirees and downsizers. Highcliffe is one of the main retirement markets on the coast. Buyers want a level bungalow or a flat with a lift near the cliff and the shops, and retirement blocks serve that demand with age-restricted leases.
- Families who want space. Larger houses with gardens towards Walkford and Hinton, Highcliffe School and the New Forest on the doorstep bring families who rent first and then buy.
- Commuters and remote workers. Hinton Admiral station on the Waterloo line lets people work in London part of the week and live by the sea, and remote workers take furnished homes for a few months to try the area.
- Visiting families and long stays. Relatives of older residents need a furnished home near a parent for weeks at a time, and contractors working around the airport take houses with parking by the month.

Long term lets in Highcliffe: questions
Can I rent a furnished home in Highcliffe for a few months?
Yes, when an owner's home is listed for stays of 28 nights or more on the Flexiestays platform. Choice is limited, so register with us. The group's apartments, with parking and bills included, are in central Bournemouth and on the West Cliff.
I need to stay near my parent in Highcliffe. Is a long stay right for me?
Often, yes. A long stay gives you a furnished home with bills included for as long as you need, with an agreed end date that can be extended where the calendar allows. Your main home stays elsewhere, which is what makes it a stay rather than a tenancy.
Can my Highcliffe retirement flat be let for long stays?
Usually not. Retirement leases normally limit occupation to people over a set age, and most long-stay guests will not meet it. Read the lease and ask a solicitor. A freehold bungalow or house avoids the question.
What is included in a Highcliffe long stay?
Furniture, a working kitchen, linen and towels, and bills: electricity, gas, water, broadband and council tax in one monthly figure. You pay a cleaning and security deposit. There is no fixed-term lock-in.
Is a long stay a tenancy?
Not when the guest's main home is elsewhere or a company books for its staff. A guest who makes the house their only home could become a tenant whatever the booking is called, and since 1 May 2026 that means a periodic tenancy. We use the right agreement; this is not legal advice.

I've had a really positive experience
I've had a really positive experience with the Airbnb building services, and I'd especially like to recognise Nat, Jack, and Reece for how helpful, friendly, and professional they are. They're always approachable, responsive, and willing to go the extra mile to help resolve any issues or answer questions. Their attitude makes a real difference and creates a welcoming experience for residents and guests. A special mention has to go to Natalie, who has been exceptionally helpful. She is consistently kind, attentive, and proactive, and always makes sure things are dealt with properly. Her dedication and willingness to help really stand out and are very much appreciated. Thank you to the whole team for all your hard work, it definitely doesn't go unnoticed!
Great accommodation and location
Ease of booking. Great communication with the team. Moved to the area and stayed while purchasing property. Very flexible regarding duration of stay. 2 months. We stayed in 2 different apartments. Both lovely. Quiet. No hassle. Also location awesome. A few minutes walk to the beach and town. Thanks again everyone at Flexistays Bournemouth. Highly recommend
Lovely and cosy apartment in the centre
Lovely and cosy apartment in the centre of Bournemouth, and managing to still be quiet. Close to the train station (and buses), big Asda superstore, town centre, park and the beach. I have stayed so far in 2 different apartments in the same building on 2 separate occasions. Both, lovely decorated, with everything one may need for a short or longer stay. A kind of apartment you just want to stay in the whole day! I would definitely recommend.
