Long term lets in Parkstone

Furnished Parkstone homes let for 28 nights or more, bills included, to Poole Hospital staff, commuters, university visitors and families between homes, through the Flexiestays platform.

  • 4.9/5 786 reviews
  • 130 properties managed
  • Since 2018 letting in Bournemouth

A long term let in Parkstone is a furnished flat or house let for 28 nights or more, with bills included and an agreed end date, to someone who needs to live near Poole Hospital, the university or the main line for a while. For a landlord it is an alternative to a tenancy when the property is furnished and the owner wants to keep control of the dates. The general service is on our long term lets page; the suburb is on our Parkstone area page.

The group's apartments and Parkstone homes

The Flexiestays group's 130 apartments are in eight buildings in central Bournemouth and on the West Cliff, in BH2, two stops from Parkstone station. They are furnished, with electricity, gas, water, fibre Wi-Fi, council tax, parking and gym access included, and listed on property to rent in Bournemouth. In Parkstone the homes are landlords' flats and houses, let the same way.

Who stays in Parkstone for months

  • Hospital staff on placements at Poole Hospital, a walk across Poole Park or a short bus ride.
  • Patients' families, for a planned operation and recovery nearby.
  • University visitors: academics, researchers and parents spending a term near the Talbot Campus.
  • Commuters on contracts who use Parkstone station.
  • Families between homes who want to stay near Parkstone Grammar and the primaries.
  • Sailors spending a season at Parkstone Yacht Club.

How a landlord's Parkstone home is let this way

We read the lease, especially on a villa conversion, and check the mortgage and insurance. Then we walk the home for a long stay: a desk, a washing machine and drying space, wardrobe room for months, blackout blinds for shift workers, and a straight answer on parking. It goes on the Flexiestays platform, Bournemouth's number one for winter and long stays, priced by the month with bills included. We vet each guest, agree the dates and the agreement, and handle arrival, inventory, inspections and departure. Flexiestays charges 8% on the bookings it brings to managed properties.

Stays and tenancies

A long stay ends on its agreed date. A guest who would make the home their only residence may be a tenant, and then a tenancy through letting agents in Parkstone is the honest answer. Our guide to long stays and tenancies explains where the line falls, and our guide to furnishing a let covers what to provide.

The local market

The Parkstone property market

Parkstone is Poole's largest suburb and its most active rental market. Lower Parkstone's Victorian villas, flats and newer blocks around Ashley Cross let to professionals and couples, and Upper Parkstone's terraces along Ashley Road are where first-time buyers and landlords start. Poole Hospital, the station and the grammar schools keep demand steady all year.

Parkstone sits close to three of the strongest reasons to stay in Poole for a few months. Poole Hospital on Longfleet Road is just across Poole Park from Lower Parkstone. Bournemouth University's Talbot Campus is just north of Upper Parkstone. Parkstone station, near Ashley Cross, puts Bournemouth, Southampton and London Waterloo within reach.

So the guests are practical: agency nurses and locum doctors on placements of weeks or months, visiting academics and researchers, contractors who commute by train to jobs along the coast, and families who have sold up and want to stay near their children's schools while a purchase completes. Some are sailors visiting Parkstone Yacht Club for a season.

Upper Parkstone's terraces suit a single contractor or a nurse at a sensible monthly price; Lower Parkstone's villa flats near Ashley Cross suit couples and relocating professionals. A long stay is a serviced let, not a tenancy, and the agreement has to fit the guest.

Who rents and buys in Parkstone

  • Poole Hospital staff. Nurses, doctors and agency staff rent flats in Lower Parkstone and terraces in Upper Parkstone because the hospital is a short drive or a walk across Poole Park.
  • Professionals and couples. Ashley Cross and the station draw young professionals and couples who want to eat out on foot and reach Bournemouth or Poole by train.
  • First-time buyers. Upper Parkstone's terraces and Lower Parkstone's conversion flats are where buyers start in Poole, close to the station and the hospital.
  • Grammar school families. Families rent and buy three and four-bedroom houses in Lower Parkstone to be near Parkstone Grammar, Poole Grammar and Poole Park.

FAQs

Long term lets in Parkstone: questions

Can I rent a furnished flat in Parkstone for a few months?

When an owner's flat is free, yes, for 28 nights or more with bills included. The Flexiestays group's apartments are in central Bournemouth and on the West Cliff in BH2, two stops east of Parkstone by train, and are always bookable for long stays. Register and we tell you what is available.

Do Poole Hospital staff book long stays in Parkstone?

They are one of the steadiest groups. The hospital is across Poole Park from Lower Parkstone, and agency nurses, locums and newly appointed staff need a furnished home for placements of weeks or months. A quiet bedroom, blackout blinds and parking suit shift workers.

Is a long stay a tenancy?

No. It is a furnished, serviced let for an agreed period, with a cleaning and security deposit and no fixed-term lock-in, for someone whose main home is elsewhere or whose stay has a known end. A guest who makes the flat their only home may be a tenant. This is not legal advice.

Is an Upper Parkstone terrace worth letting this way?

It can be. A terrace off Ashley Road is not a holiday home, but it is a practical base for a contractor or a nurse, close to supermarkets and buses. We compare the monthly income with a tenancy before you furnish, and tell you which looks stronger.

What is included in a long stay?

In the group's apartments: electricity, gas, water, fibre Wi-Fi, council tax, TV licence, parking and gym access, with linen and a full kitchen. In an owner's Parkstone home, bills and broadband are normally included so the guest sees one monthly figure.

I've had a really positive experience

I've had a really positive experience with the Airbnb building services, and I'd especially like to recognise Nat, Jack, and Reece for how helpful, friendly, and professional they are. They're always approachable, responsive, and willing to go the extra mile to help resolve any issues or answer questions. Their attitude makes a real difference and creates a welcoming experience for residents and guests. A special mention has to go to Natalie, who has been exceptionally helpful. She is consistently kind, attentive, and proactive, and always makes sure things are dealt with properly. Her dedication and willingness to help really stand out and are very much appreciated. Thank you to the whole team for all your hard work, it definitely doesn't go unnoticed!

Lovely and cosy apartment in the centre

Lovely and cosy apartment in the centre of Bournemouth, and managing to still be quiet. Close to the train station (and buses), big Asda superstore, town centre, park and the beach. I have stayed so far in 2 different apartments in the same building on 2 separate occasions. Both, lovely decorated, with everything one may need for a short or longer stay. A kind of apartment you just want to stay in the whole day! I would definitely recommend.
