Flexie Estate Agents lets homes in Ringwood, the Hampshire market town on the Avon where the New Forest begins. We work from our Bournemouth office about ten miles away down the A338, and landlords choose tenant find, rent collection or full management. This page is the Ringwood detail behind our letting agents service.

What lets in Ringwood

  • Cottages and townhouses near the Market Place. Couples and single tenants who want the Wednesday market, the pubs and the shops on foot. Parking is the first question.
  • Family houses on the estates. Families who want Ringwood School, a garden and a short drive to the Forest. They stay for years.
  • Bungalows. Older tenants, often moving closer to family in the town.
  • Flats. Fewer, near the centre, let to single tenants and couples.

The town itself is described on our Ringwood area page.

Marketing and referencing

We value the rent on a visit, with the instant rent estimate as a first figure. Listings lead with what Ringwood tenants look for: the walk to the Forest or the Market Place, the garden, parking for two cars, and whether pets are considered. We list on the portals and with our registered tenants, and reference every adult for identity, Right to Rent, credit, income and a previous landlord, with a guarantor where needed.

Every let in Ringwood needs a gas safety certificate where there is gas, an electrical report, smoke alarms on every storey, a carbon monoxide alarm by fixed combustion appliances, an EPC of band E or better, Right to Rent checks, deposit protection within 30 days and the How to Rent guide. Older cottages with solid walls and some homes off the gas network, heated by oil or electricity, can struggle to reach the EPC minimum; we flag that at the valuation. Our guide to gas and electrical safety explains the certificates.

Tenancies and the council

At the time of writing tenancies under the Renters' Rights Act are periodic, rent can rise once a year by notice and possession needs a legal ground. Ringwood landlords deal with New Forest District Council, and a furnished home left empty is caught by the 100% council tax premium. We aim for short gaps between tenants for that reason.

Commuters and the roads

Many Ringwood tenants work elsewhere: in Bournemouth down the A338, in Southampton along the A31 and the M27, or in Salisbury to the north. With no station, a house that is quick to reach from either main road, with room for two cars, suits them best. We say in the listing how far the house is from the A31 junction, because commuting tenants filter on it.

The local market

The Ringwood property market

Ringwood is a Hampshire market town under New Forest District Council, with cottages and townhouses in the centre and family houses and bungalows around it. Tenants are families, commuters on the A31 and A338 and people who want the Forest on the doorstep; buyers include families, retirees and households moving out of Bournemouth or up from Southampton.

Ringwood tenants want one of two things: the New Forest on the doorstep, or a quick drive on the A31 or the A338 to work in Bournemouth, Southampton or Salisbury. Many want both. Families rent houses with gardens near Ringwood School; couples and single professionals rent cottages and flats near the Market Place; older tenants rent bungalows on the estates.

Ringwood is in Hampshire, and that changes the rules a landlord deals with.

The council. New Forest District Council, not BCP or Dorset Council, handles council tax, licensing and housing standards. At the time of writing it charges a 100% council tax premium on furnished homes with no resident, from 1 April 2025.

The National Park. The town is outside the park, but most of the parish is inside it, so planning for an extension or outbuilding may go to the National Park Authority.

Dogs. Forest-edge tenants often have dogs. A clear pet policy, and an agreement that deals with pet damage, saves disputes later.

Who rents and buys in Ringwood

  • The New Forest. People who want to walk, ride or cycle in the Forest every week rent and buy here for a town with shops and schools on the Forest's edge.
  • Commuters on the A31 and A338. The roads put Bournemouth, Southampton and Salisbury within commuting distance, so the town draws workers from all three.
  • Families. A secondary school in the town, a walkable centre and gardens bring families who rent while they settle and then buy.
  • Retirees and downsizers. Bungalows and smaller houses near the Market Place sell to older buyers, many from further afield, who want the Forest and the market within reach.
Winter and long stays

Let furnished, from 28 nights, all year round.

A furnished flat in Ringwood does not have to sit on a twelve-month tenancy or empty from November. Through the group's platform, Flexiestays, it can be let to contractors, relocations, hospital staff and visiting families for a month or more at a time.

  • Stays of a month to several months
  • Guests looking for somewhere to live, not a holiday
  • Fills the gaps between tenancies and summers

FAQs

Letting agents in Ringwood: questions

Who rents in Ringwood?

Families who want Ringwood School and a garden, commuters on the A31 and A338 to Bournemouth, Southampton and Salisbury, people who moved for the New Forest, and older tenants renting bungalows near the town centre. Many have dogs and nearly all have cars.

Can tenants in Ringwood keep a dog?

Under the Renters' Rights Act, at the time of writing, a tenant can ask to keep a pet and a landlord must not refuse unreasonably, though conditions apply. In a Forest town many good tenants have dogs. We set out a pet clause that protects the property.

Which council covers my Ringwood let?

New Forest District Council, in Hampshire. A shared house with five or more people from two or more households needs a mandatory HMO licence from the district council. Check its housing pages for any other requirement at your address.

Do you cover Ringwood from Bournemouth?

Yes. Our office on Charminster Road is about ten miles away along the A338. We value, market and let homes in Ringwood and the villages around it, and we confirm which service level and which contractors we can offer at your address before you instruct us.

What are the service levels?

Tenant find, rent collection and fully managed. All three include marketing, referencing, the tenancy agreement and deposit protection. Rent collection adds monthly collection; fully managed adds inspections, repairs and certificate renewals. We confirm fees in writing before you instruct us.

Outstanding from start to finish

The apartment exceeded our expectations with its modern design and thoughtful touches throughout. Walking distance to both the seafront and shopping areas made it incredibly convenient. Clear instructions, responsive host. Would absolutely stay here again on our next visit to Bournemouth.

Second stay, and we'll be back

Great apartment at a perfect location. Jack and the team were so easy to deal with. This is our second time at this apartment block and we'll definitely be returning. Clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
