Where the homes are
The Flexiestays group's 130 apartments are in central Bournemouth and on the West Cliff, in BH2, listed on property to rent in Bournemouth. There are no group buildings on the Quay. Old Town stays are in flats owned by landlords and let through the Flexiestays platform, Bournemouth's number one for winter and long stays.
Who stays on the Quay for months
- RNLI course members and staff at the headquarters and college on West Quay Road.
- Marine engineers and contractors at Sunseeker's yard and the businesses around the harbour, and at the port across the bridges.
- Poole Hospital clinicians on placements, a short trip up Longfleet Road.
- People relocating to Poole who want to try living in the centre before buying.
- Households between homes who want to be near work and the station.
How a quayside flat is let this way
A landlord lists a furnished flat through Flexiestays at a monthly price with bills included. Employers and individuals search there, and Flexiestays charges only 8% on the bookings it brings to managed properties. Each stay is vetted, an inventory taken at both ends and the flat inspected during the stay.
A monthly guest in a block needs the entrance, the door code, the lift, the bin store and the parcel arrangements explained before arrival, plus a desk, fast Wi-Fi, a washing machine and somewhere to dry a wet coat. Our guide to corporate lets and relocation explains what employers expect.
The lease first, then the agreement
Quayside leases vary, and some forbid anything but private residential use or require consent. Whether a monthly stay fits the lease is a question for the lease and, if in doubt, a solicitor. A serviced stay for someone whose main home is elsewhere is not an assured tenancy, but a guest who makes the flat their only home may be a tenant, so we use the right agreement. Our guide to long stays against tenancies explains the difference; it is not legal advice.

Poole Old Town is the historic core behind a working quay: medieval and Georgian buildings, converted warehouses and modern quayside apartment blocks, with Poole station and the town centre a walk away. It rents to professionals and people working on West Quay Road, and sells to downsizers, second-home buyers and investors. Most homes are leasehold flats.
The Old Town is where a monthly guest can arrive by train and never need a car. Poole station is at the top of the High Street, and almost everything a working guest needs is a walk away: the town centre, the Quay, the Lighthouse arts centre and West Quay Road.
That road is the reason for much of the demand. The RNLI's headquarters and college train crews and staff on courses that can run for weeks, and Sunseeker's original yard and the marine businesses around the harbour bring engineers and contractors on projects. The port is across the lifting bridges. Poole Hospital is a short trip up Longfleet Road, bringing clinicians on placements. People relocating to Poole, and families between homes, add to them.
The Flexiestays group's 130 properties are in central Bournemouth and on the West Cliff. In the Old Town, stays are in flats owned by landlords and let through the Flexiestays platform, and the lease decides whether a flat can be let this way.
Who rents and buys in Poole Old Town and Quay
- Car-free professionals. People who work in the town centre or commute by train rent and buy here because everything is on foot and parking is not needed.
- Downsizers and second-home buyers. Quayside apartments with a view of the boats sell to buyers from London and the Home Counties and to local downsizers leaving a family house.
- West Quay Road and the port. Staff and course members at the RNLI, engineers at Sunseeker and port contractors rent furnished flats here for the length of a job.
- Heritage and the waterfront. The Custom House, Scaplen's Court, the Town Cellars and Poole Museum give the Old Town a character that buyers pay for, particularly in the Georgian houses.

Long term lets in Poole Old Town and Quay: questions
Can I rent a furnished flat on Poole Quay by the month?
Yes, where a landlord has listed one through the Flexiestays platform. Stays start at 28 nights, bills are included and there is no fixed term. The group's apartments in central Bournemouth, a short train ride away, are another option.
Who books long stays in the Old Town?
RNLI course members and staff, engineers at Sunseeker and around the port, Poole Hospital clinicians on placements, people relocating to Poole and families between homes. Most arrive by train or want to live on foot.
Is there parking for long-stay guests?
Often not. Many Old Town flats have no allocated space. Listings say plainly whether a space comes with the flat and where the nearest car parks are; many guests here choose the area so they do not need a car.
Can my quayside flat be let for monthly stays?
Only if the lease allows it. Some quayside leases require private residential use or need the freeholder's consent, and a monthly stay may be treated differently from a holiday let. We read the lease before listing. Flexiestays charges only 8% on the bookings it brings.
Is a monthly stay a tenancy?
No. A serviced stay of 28 nights or more is for someone whose main home is elsewhere, with bills included and no fixed term. A guest who makes the flat their only home may be a tenant, so we use the right agreement. This is not legal advice.

I've had a really positive experience
I've had a really positive experience with the Airbnb building services, and I'd especially like to recognise Nat, Jack, and Reece for how helpful, friendly, and professional they are. They're always approachable, responsive, and willing to go the extra mile to help resolve any issues or answer questions. Their attitude makes a real difference and creates a welcoming experience for residents and guests. A special mention has to go to Natalie, who has been exceptionally helpful. She is consistently kind, attentive, and proactive, and always makes sure things are dealt with properly. Her dedication and willingness to help really stand out and are very much appreciated. Thank you to the whole team for all your hard work, it definitely doesn't go unnoticed!
Great accommodation and location
Ease of booking. Great communication with the team. Moved to the area and stayed while purchasing property. Very flexible regarding duration of stay. 2 months. We stayed in 2 different apartments. Both lovely. Quiet. No hassle. Also location awesome. A few minutes walk to the beach and town. Thanks again everyone at Flexistays Bournemouth. Highly recommend
Lovely and cosy apartment in the centre
Lovely and cosy apartment in the centre of Bournemouth, and managing to still be quiet. Close to the train station (and buses), big Asda superstore, town centre, park and the beach. I have stayed so far in 2 different apartments in the same building on 2 separate occasions. Both, lovely decorated, with everything one may need for a short or longer stay. A kind of apartment you just want to stay in the whole day! I would definitely recommend.
